work and time shortcut formula

work  formula

A can do a work in x days
then A's work rate( work done per day)= 1/x

B do a work in y days then
B's work rate=1/y

1.  A+B work per day= 1/x+1/y =(x+y)/xy
     A+B  will finish work in = xy/(x+y) days

2.  A can alone finish the work in p days and b can finish it in q days. then if A alone work for x days and B work for next y days then work would complete in

pq/(qx+py)

3. If A+B finish a work in x days, B+C in y and C+A in z days
then

A+B+c can finish it in

A+B+C=2xyz/(xy+yz+xz)

A can finish the work alone in

A=2xyz/(xy+yz-xz)

B can finish the job alone in

B=2xyz/(yz+zx-xy)

C can finish the job alone in

C=2xyz/(xz+xy-zy)
